I just bought a case of the ’09 Marlborough for my son’s wedding. It was the last 12 bottles at the Palo Alto TJs. We’re just starting to stock up. I’ve been comparing the wine to various other Sauvignon Blancs from New Zealand and France and the ’09 Republic is still the best. The others cost $3-$5 more. It’s a steal at $7. We had the ’08 and liked it a lot, as well.

Tried the Blocks Sauvignon Blanc this weekend. My SO preferred it to the Sauvignon Republic, but I need to do a side-by-side to be sure. And if I recall correctly, it was even cheaper than the Republic.

@Drew I still have one bottle left of the ’08. I’ll let you know on the ’09 when I try it but I will certainly move to the next vintage with this one! @Kim gives it the thumbs up in the comments above…

I’m really enjoying the Marlborough 2009. Bought 2 cases, and planning to go back for more. Haven’t tried the Stellenbosch.

I have not tasted the ’08 but I think the ’09 is very good for $7. Lip-smacking tasty. Went back and got more after I tried a bottle. Goes great with a lemon Vinaigrette salad.

@Chuck — just had a taste of the ’09 Marlborough at the Foggy Bottom (DC) TJ’s. Couldn’t say if it is as good as the ’08, but I thought it was a great buy and definitely stands shoulder-to-shoulder with King Shag as my favorite SB’s under $10!
