Fratelli Perata in Paso Robles released their estate Charbono recently and everything they do is tremendous, but be prepared to drop around three sawbucks on a bottle. The only other Charbono I had is Turley's. I like it better than their Zins and about as much as their Petite Sirahs and it is one of their "cheaper" wines. Last time I bought one it was about $25. I think Charbono is a very cool varietal and hopefully will come back. Do a little digging on the internets and you'll read some cool stuff.

As mentioned on twitter I'll keep an eye out but seems this is a varietal to buy in the tasting room. Hard to find... Thanks again for the comment!

This link is to the ONLY Charbono I've tried. I know it's available at Tannic Tongue in Washington DC, and by the bottle at ZuZu in Napa. Other than that, it's sold out. I think they only made 50 cases. Since I'm a Pinot and Cab girl, I can't really describe this varietal. I don't have anything to measure it against. But, it was AMAZING!!! My wine terminology ranges from "hey, this is good", to "Oh My God! Swoon!" :) If you can get your hand on a bottle, I highly recommend it! http://www.thomasmichaelcellars.com/current_jl_charbono.html
